We are fostering a sick kitten, and it seems like the top layer of his skin if separating from his body. I very gently grabbed him, and a large chunk of skin and fur came off. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Our vets don’t know what could be causing this

Also, do you hav any ideas to take care of him? We are cleaning the area and applying EMT gel, giving him Clavamox, and lysine

This is very strange and most likely very, very painful for this poor baby. I wonder if the medication (Clavamox or lysine) could cause it but I would definitely go to a different vet and ask if there is a specialist that could see your kitten. Please post an update and thank you for looking after this little kitten.

I would strongly consider just taking your Kitten to an emergency vet. They can help you more than a smaller vet. It will save you a lot of stress rather than playing a guessing game and stress for the kitten. Your sweet kitten your being so sweet to foster is in my prayers 💛

We will be going to the vet first thing tomorrow morning to run tests, because at this point nobody knows. There is something called Steven Johnson syndrome, which can be caused by all three of the medications he is on, so for now we are stopping those. I will post an update tomorrow

I pray it’s an “ easy fix” and he can have a quick recovery. Looks so painful. 💔 I know it must be hard for you to seem him in this condition. I hope everything goes well tomorrow and the figure out what’s causing it.
