Here I find myself on the first morning without my beloved Kate. Tears falling from my eyes, I just really miss her. I don't really feel like doing anything and the tears just keep flowing. I want to hold her, comfort her, kiss her and I can't. I am so glad I am on holidays I couldn't have faced work. Last night I set up a little memorial for her - a picture and a candle. I don't know if that really helped but it was all I could do. Such sadness, I could never imagine. I get her ashes tomorrow. Something of her I suppose but its not her. I wish it didnt hurt so much but I really did love her.

I'm so sorry you're facing this difficult time.  We all understand the nearly unbearable sense of sorrow and loneliness you feel now.  We've all been there.  Some of us have worked through it and have healed form our losses, and others are still traveling that road.  You are not alone.  We are all here for each other.  We lift each other up and there are many virtual shoulders available for you to lay your weary head.

Your memorial for sweet Angel Kate sounds so nice.  It's important for us to honor the grief and let the tears flow.  All tears are healing tears.  They help to wash away our sorrow and allow the first buds of happiness to blossom in our hearts.  In time, we begin to heal, and we find that the smiles of fond memories come before the tears of recent loss.  You will get there, I promise.  It takes time, and it helps to have a community of understanding friends as you make that journey.

You and Angel Kate are in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart is battered and bruised, but I will not let it break. It holds such precious cargo, I must protect it now. (Susie Squillions)

Dear Susie,

Thankyou for your wonderful words, they meant so much. It has been a week and a half now and things are better. You were right you do get there but the understanding I have received from members like you has been fundamental in my healing. Thankyou

katysmum,

Am so sorry for your loss of Angel Kate. Here is really a wonderful place to express your anger, your memories, your grief. Comforting others here, being allowed to share Jasmine's story has been a benefit to my grieving. Everyone here understands and share in your sorrow. My Jasmine was there to welcome Kate to The Rainbow Bridge-that's what she did best.
When you can, share memories of Kate with us.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers as you continue to mourn the loss of kate. When you can read Jasmine's story: http://RainbowsBridge.com/residents/JAMIN001/Resident.htm

I cannot agree more, and know fully what you are experiencing.  My family lost our own sweet girl on November 22, and we are still managing our emotions, which run high, and for which each member of our small family (I, my Mom, and my brother) struggles to manage in the way best for them.  We were united in our love for and our care and attention to our sweetheart, but am finding that we have different, individual ways of dealing with our loss.

My advice at this point is do what feels right for you (I am working on a photo album, pulling together both professional and personal photos over the almost 13 years we had our girl, but my brother cannot deal with looking at them, so his copy will just wait for him, whenever he might want it).

Know in your heart that they are with us still, and that one day we will be with them again - that is a core belief that keeps me going in spite of my own grief, so give yourself time to grieve (no one can tell you "when" and don't set artificial timelines for "moving on", etc.)

I am so glad to have found this forum - let us be here for each other, as we were for our wonderful companions.
