I just lost my 9 year old Westie Hunter to the same horrific cancer....histiocytic sarcoma.  He was so full of life and loved everyday. Everyone always commented on how happy he was and how beautiful he and his sister were. We took him to the vet because he would yelp sometimes when we rubbed his ears and then a black spot appeared on his hamstring...this all started on October 11th this year... October 12th we were at the specialist and October 13th we were told he had histiocytic sarcoma and the prognosis was not good... he would get very sick..we could start palliative care that involved chemotherapy to maintain quality of life. They tried CCNU but it was not effective. He started intravenous chemo next followed in 2 weeks with another treatment to try and get ahead of the super aggressive cancer stealing him from me... He lasted until December 11th... he would not get up, couldn't open his mouth for pain meds and the supplement that helped to stop the bleeding from his ears... he was shaking, panting and trembling... It was a shock.. going from being a healthy happy 9 year old to cancer diagnosis of the worst kind and then jumping right into chemo..I wonder if he wondered what the heck was going on.. Such a wonderful dog did not deserve this and it has made me question my faith..

Esther, I’m so sorry for your loss. It really stinks these sweet animals get cancer. Just seems so unfair. My girl has it too, mass on her liver that was very large and surgery out of the question. We found out July 18, she was okay till end of September then she got progressively worse, we had to make that dreaded decision. Hugs to you, we are here to listen and talk.
