Thank you, Debi. I got the low-down today, and it sounds like Sugar knew what was coming, and planned the end perfectly. Apparently, when Dave got home from work, she was ready to go outside. He took her out for a leisurely time and she did what she needed to do there. He went upstairs to take a shower, and when he returned downstairs, she was gone. I have no doubt that she wanted to see him one more time. She was an elderly lady, and she had been having accidents every now and then lately. I am so touched that she waited for him to get home from work. So careful not to have an accident on her last day. She waited to welcome him home one last time, and then when he went upstairs for his shower, she would just lie down and go to sleep. I am certain she had it planned out. She was such a fine, good girl. I know she makes a beautiful angel now. Dave wrapped Sugar in her blanket and took her to his parents' home, where he buried her next to his past best friends who had gone before her. I hope he will be ready soon to welcome a new pup into his home. He is such a good doggy daddy, and any pup would be so lucky to get the position of Dave's best friend. Fly high among the angels, Miss Sugar, and please entertain my boys!
My heart is battered and bruised, but I will not let it break. It holds such precious cargo, I must protect it now. (Susie Squillions)
