No support from my family. Does anyone else here have this problem?

I somewhat do, but maybe not to the extent you are experiencing. My family (other than my cat, Nile) is my little brother. He does try to be supportive but he's not an animal person and just doesn't understand.

For example, after the death of my cat Cleocatra last March, when I called to talk to him because I was sad, his initial response was, "why do you have pets if you're just going to cry when they die?"

Very silly thing to ask.

At least we have this forum to express our grief. This place has been such a huge help for myself and so many others.

I stopped attempting to speak to everyone around me that I knew about the loss of my boy (a cat named "Marmalade") as they did not want to hear it, and did not understand my grief. So I came here instead to this forum where I discovered compassion and understanding. It has been a true blessing and a Godsend for me.

Kind regards,
James
