Nikkai was my baby.  I loved her every day I had her.

A couple of months ago, she started to decline in health.  I knew that time was short for her.  Well, two days ago I decided that I my next day off, I would have her put to sleep.  I knew that the time had come.  Yesterday, she had a sudden seizure, and died in my kitchen.  I am heartbroken.

Dear Mike,

My heart aches for you.  I am nursing my own sick kitty, T.J., who was diagnosed with CRF and has been having seizures.  His will to live is still strong, but I can feel these seizures beginning to take their toll on him.  Reading about your loss just tugs at my heart strings.

Nikkai knows how dearly you love her, and she will always live in spirit and in your heart.  The simple fact that you had decided to release her from her the body that had started to betray her spirit gave her permission to leave on her own terms.  As shocking and sad as it is to discover that they have left us, it can be equally comforting to know that they did it on their terms.  Perhaps she wanted to spare you having to make that last trip to the vet together, and go in her own home, where she knew such wonderful love throughout her life.

You and your Angel Nikkai are in my thoughts and prayers.  When you're able to, I hope you will come back and tell us about her life with you and all of the memories that you will hold in your heart forever.
My heart is battered and bruised, but I will not let it break. It holds such precious cargo, I must protect it now. (Susie Squillions)

"Memories of loved ones are like songs in our soul." Margaret Wakeley

In one of the stars, I shall be living.
In one of them, I shall be laughing.
And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing when you look at the sky at night.
