Dearest Lynn - Thank you for sharing those beautiful pictures of your precious girls!! It is funny but no matter how much older our babies get, we can always see the puppies they were when we look at their angelic faces!! I wish you warm hugs and blessings of comfort.

Denise thatās so sweet of you! But, š, seriously, they were actually āugly ducklingsā and like the fairytale they turned into ābeautiful swansā and like any Mommy I was even more fiercely protective because they werenāt the cutest lil things and loved them all the more. When I look at the pictures the memories and feelings are of the most cherished time of my life which came to me by accidentš

Dearest Lynn - I am so so sorry I missed your 6-month angel-versary for your beloved Tankie. And I disagree--I think your babies are beautiful--beautiful puffs of fur. You know the saying goes that "beauty is not created--it is revealed." And your loving care and nurturing helped them to be the beautiful girls they grew up to be. My heart is with you on your grief journey as yours has been in mine. Sometimes it has been difficult for me to write on this forum because everything becomes a jumble and I trip over the right words to say. Just know that I think of you and Tankie and Browns and Sport and keep you all in my prayers. I wish you warm hugs and blessings of comfort.

Wow! Lynn, Tankie was so beautiful! I read your posts and loved the song, Time in a Bottle. It brought tears to my eyes. I also read the other posts about grief and they rang so true to me. Six months is a very short time but in other ways it can seem like an eternity since you saw your beautiful, gentle giant. This is a very painful time for you and I'm so very sorry for your sad loss. Hugs to you! CK

Dear Lynn, You know this fairy tale with the swan? I agree with Denise and CK - I can now sing the song "Time in a Bottle" without crying. It is simply beautiful. Many hugs to you

CK thank you for your sweet words, I wanted to reply to your thread as well, but? Or maybe you are an angel guiding us with words of wisdom and love, because I saw none to reply to- Yes! My girl is one big beauty with a heart to match! I sure hope God letās us see the body we miss because I want nothing more than to drop to my knees and throw my arms around her neck while drowning in the smell of her thick coat! Thank you once againš

Silvia, I know you also long for the ābigā feel of your Max, that wonderful feeling of almost being pushed over by our exuberant big babies while weāre down on one knee and they canāt contain their joy for us! Or their once around us tours that push into the back of our knees and nearly bring us down to their playing field! I quickly learned the ādodgeā to the left or right, or the one leg lift! Sometimes it was both of my girls charging my way and Iād just crouch if I had no where to go! They were such happy playful girls! They have been the time of my life, blessed

This sounds like such a wonderful "problem" to have, Lynn. I've lived in apartments much, unfortunately could never had a big dog. Reading this makes me smile over your memories. The idea of getting whomped with their happy tails sounds like sweetness, as well. Hugs to you today!

I sure Silvia knows the tail āwompā Much better than me! Labs have such strong ones and are known for knocking more than their owners over!

Yes, Lynn, yes... I know all too well, lol. Labs have such strong everything and when a Lab and a Leonberger are wildly playing and think you will of course be within the game....you know.... it is kinda like a tactic foul in soccer without anyone raising the yellow card in my favor. So yes, I got knocked over, pulled off my chair and pushed down into the ditch filled with mud. And Max and I wrestled on the ground floor ever so often, both of us growling in joy, lol. Oh, what lovely times I so gladly remember. The "big feel" - I could only keep up by gaining enough weight, hahaha. Wasn't that ever so lovely with your big babies, two of them at once in the battle, lol. Thank you so much for such lovely reminders, Lynn. It's night here, I will go to sleep now with a big laugh in my heart and wish same for you. Hugs

Tankie, I belive you were wanting to save this beautiful story that was posted on my thread. So I wanted to post it here for you just in case š WHY DOGS LIVE LESS THAN HUMAN Here's the surprising answer of a 6 year old child. Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dogās owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldnāt do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience. The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belkerās family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belkerās transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belkerās Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that dogs' lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, āI know why.ā Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. Iād never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live. He said, āPeople are born so that they can learn how to live a good life ā like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?ā The six-year-old continued, āWell, dogs already know how to do that, so they donāt have to stay for as long as we do.ā Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like: ⢠When your loved ones come home, always run to greet them. ⢠Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride. ⢠Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy. ⢠Take naps. ⢠Stretch before rising. ⢠Run, romp, and play daily. ⢠Thrive on attention and let people touch you. ⢠Avoid biting when a simple growl will do. ⢠On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass. ⢠On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree. ⢠When youāre happy, dance around and wag your entire body. ⢠Delight in the simple joy of a long walk. ⢠Be faithful. ⢠Never pretend to be something youāre not. ⢠If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it. ⢠When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently. That's the secret of happiness that we can learn from a good dog
