I have posted this poem before but I just love it so I will post it again. These words are for you Jalle my beloved friend. I miss you more than words can ever say and my heart is aching for you. I love you my boy!

They say memories are golden
well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

Thank you so much for posting. Isn't it so true that "If love alone could have saved you / you never would have died"? We all share the same thing which is such a pure and beautiful love for our wonderful pets. I truly wish love had been enough to save Sammy.

"If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever." ~ The Crow

"We don't "get over" our losses and just move on, we learn to live differently."

One of my favorites also.  I discovered it shortly after Tuffy passed. I printed it out and read it often. "I never wanted memories, I only wanted you" will always hold true for me as I have to continue on without him.  Thanks for posting. It's a beautiful verse all can relate to.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal;
Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

Yes, it describes so well what I am feeling. I feel as christmas is getting closer that its getting more painful again. It really is a rollercoster this grief.
