Oh Tom ~ I'm so sorry Sarge isn't back home. What a sad thing, to have to talk to Jay about someone dog-napping Sarge. It's a delicate thing to have to talk about, isn't it? My grandson is also 7, and I know he would be terribly puzzled by this kind of discussion. I can only imagine that it could really shake a little guy's security, so it will be important to stress that he is safe, but probably without actually saying that (there's always the chance that saying it might cause questions to arise that might not even be of concern to him). What a dilemma! I wish I had some marvelous advice or suggestions, but I'm just coming up blank right now. I'm sure if you follow your heart, you will find a balance that works for Jay. You are such a good comforter.
My heart is battered and bruised, but I will not let it break. It holds such precious cargo, I must protect it now. (Susie Squillions)

In one of the stars, I shall be living.
In one of them, I shall be laughing.
And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing when you look at the sky at night.
