At the end of March I had to put my cat Angel down. She was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and I waited too long. Six weeks after the diagnosis I had to make the decision to let her go. Within this last week I have found out that my other two cats that are aged 14 and 10, also have health issues. My Maine coon mix Trouble has heart disease and hyperthyroidism as well. I took him in because I had noticed he was being hyperactive which I learned is a symptom. I ran the whole panel because of his age and I'm glad that I did. I do not know how much damage has been done to his heart until I take him to a specialist. Apparently Maine coons are very prone to heart disease, I wish I had known this earlier. My other cat Cutie has pretty bad arthritis. I did an X-ray and also decided to run the full panel because of her age. She is in stage one of kidney disease. The vet advised that in several months to a year that she will start showing the symptoms and eventually her kidneys will fail. I have been having a very difficult time getting over the loss of Angel. I do not know if I can do this again, let alone how soon I may have to.

I'm so sorry to hear this.  Know that everyone on here is here for you through all of it.  I can't even begin to imagine the sadness and anguish it must bring.

Please start your kitty on a kidney diet now, if your vet hasn’t already advised it. The hyperthyroidism, when I worked in the vet field we had lil pills to help regulate that, have they talked to you about that? Very wise to get that panel done, you have the chance to help regulate these levels. As cats age is isn’t uncommon to see some chronic renal issues, diet diet diet. That’s so important right now. Now the fun part will be finding a food they’ll like since you’ll probably have to feed them the same diet. Now,,, I want you to take a Deep breath and exhale slowly,, girl you are on top of this it’s not going to come up and bite you in the A*$$ this time😉 A wonderful site to order from, once you’ve got their kidney diet of choice is Chewy.com Believe me the only association I have with them is from having to order, of all things, kidney diet food for my baby Tankie. She was in acute renal failure by the time I had blood wrk done😔 You’ll do just fine with these kitty’s, take care
