It is hard to put into words--there are multiple organizations dealing with an onslaught of pet issues in Houston right now. If your heart is ready, can you foster, even adopt? This is a personal decision even I am dealing with having lost TheeAdore only a month ago.

Give it some thought and here are some links by no means comprehensive. Please add links to this that you find that seem relevant and credible. Thank you.

I have linked a fundraiser to my facebook page for Austin Pets Alive. I too have lost my Lab girl (her picture is my profile picture) on June 1, 2017 so seeing those stories and the faces of those fur babies who need OUR help makes me cry more but my Satin wouldn't have it any other way. if you can, please donate to a local rescue group down there, not just in Houston but anywhere in the affected area, which is very large.

I am tempted to drive down there this weekend since I am off Labor Day, and take food and blankets with me and just help if I can.

There's a brilliant response from so many helpers in Houston area and many animals are being rescued. My heart goes out to all the people and the animals caught up in this. I feel especially sorry for any strays who may not have anyone to look out for them or who haven't been found yet by rescuers.
Anyone who can even temporarily foster will be a great help. Anyone up for it go for it. You could do so much good and help a dog or cat for a short time in an emergency situation whose owner will bless you from the bottom of their heart!
My prayers for all those people and animals there.
Hold the love like a little light. It is all you have, or will ever have, to find your way home.

I just made a donation to Austin Pets Alive yesterday in honor of my sweet girl Raven. I can't hardly watch the images on the news, it's so heartbreaking! All the cats, dogs, horses cows and wildlife, as well as all the poor people. I hope anyone posting here that's from around the areas hit are doing ok and find peace, and all your babies are safe! God bless you all, and God bless those of you out there helping in whatever way you can, be it rescuing, fostering or donating. Every little bit counts!
Love to all, Marie and the crew 🐱🐌🐊

I just donated to the Houston spca. My Ruby came from Texas it's the least I can do. Our local SPCA is getting some flood dogs today. I'm not ready yet but maybe in a week or two we could manage to foster. Good thoughts to all ❤️🐾.

This forum reinforces my shaky belief that thee is still hope for humanity. I have been sending donations to local groups that are heading to Texas and also to the Houston Food Bank. Saturday I am dropping off supplies to a local rescue group that is heading down there Sunday. It's the least I can do, even though I have family down there (not in the affected areas) and am tempted to drive from Illinois (near St Louis, MO) to Houston or Galveston but I saw that my fellow US Marines are on the job! God Bless all of you and God Bless those animals, all of them, down there in Texas, Louisiana and the entire Gulf Coast. This storm isn't finished just yet. I've cried several times today and yesterday while at work, this is killing me.

My baby Roswell is lying across my legs right now as I'm typing this and her brother Argento is in his place at the foot of the bed. As I look at their sweet faces I just can't imagine how I would feel of a disaster hit and my precious cats and other pets and I were torn apart! I'm crying just thinking about it! Please God keep everyone hit by this mess safe and may all the animals and their humans be reunited and all the wildlife be safe! My prayers are with you! 🐱🐶🐎🐗🐄

I know. I imagine...what if it had been that my Misty and I had been separated by some disaster like this. It would have been unthinkable! But what if it had happened? I would have been so grateful to have found her again and found out that some person had taken care of her, fostered her, given her food and a dry bed to sleep in and companionship until I got to her again. My gratitude to that person/organisations who helped her would know no bounds.

Texas was hit badly again. Just when they didn't need it. I pray that everyone will be helped through.

And now it's in Louisiana. My little Roswell is so skittish she'd be terrified if something like that happened and we got separated. She'd need an extra patient kind person to foster her until we could reunite.
I hope my sweet girl Raven is watching over all the victims tonight. I miss you so much, my beautiful black kitty 🐱💔
