I have been looking around on the internet just to see what cats are up for adoption near us, and I found a really cute orange boy. He's partially blind and he sounds like an absolutely precious guy. I have a very soft spot in my heart for "less adoptable" animals thanks to everything we went through with Dante, and I felt very drawn to him when I looked at his picture and read his story.
My partner said we could go meet him if I felt like I was ready, but I honestly don't know if I am. It's only been about a month without Dante. I still miss him so much it's hard to bear, but I also really miss having a kitty in the house. I worry if it's been enough time for me to really appreciate a new kitty for their unique personality and not have the feeling that I want them to be just like Dante.
For those of you who have lost pets and welcomed new ones into your home, how long did you wait? How did you know you were ready? Were there any difficulties you faced?

You are gone, my special boy, but I will love you forever. R.I.P.
