Animals and the Afterlife: True Stories of Our Best Friends' Journey Beyond Death

~ Kim Sheridan Ph.D. (Author)
Is this the book that so many recommend reading?
Thanks in advance!
Annette.

Hi Annette ~

I've heard a lot of good things about this book, although I've never read it.  I can't imagine that it wouldn't be a healing journey to read this one even it isn't the one that was suggested. After all ~ it can't hurt to read more than one healing book!

Thanks Susie for your post!
Even though I did an online search for the book that was suggested I could not find it.The only one that I found was the one that I posted about.
Do you have any idea where I might find the other one?
Thanks in advance!
Annette.

Hi Annette ~

Another great book I've heard about is All Dogs Go To Heaven.  It's actually a children's book, and it was made into an animated movie in the late '80s or early '90s.  There's also a good children's book by Sylvia Browne (the psychic) and her son, David Dufresne, called Animals On the Other Side.  It's very comforting, and I know several people who have found a lot of healing within the pages of it.

I read a great book last summer that really touched me deeply.  It's called The Art of Racing In the Rain, by Garth Stein.  It' the story of a family as told by the dog, Enzo.  It's absolutely wonderful.  I cried, I laughed, and I enjoyed every sentence.  It really gives a great perspective of how or animals might view our time together.  I can't recommend it highly enough.  It is currently my favorite book, and I always keep it near the desk in my office.  Instead of being a "how to" book about getting through our losses, it gives us perspective about how our dogs face their lives right up tot he final minutes.  It's just magnificent.  Be forewarned, though,  You will need tissues during the first ten pages or so.  Then, you will laugh out loud often through most of the book, and at the end, you'll need those tissues again.  ;-)

I hope you will find the right book for you, and all the comfort you need from it when you read it.
